according to January 2006 issue of IDR, Phozotron showed a mock up of Zhuk-A AESA radar for MiG-35,at the MAK2005 airshow, typical for recent AESA radars, the zhuk-a antenna is raised by 20 degree, the axis is turn up cuz during the typical missionb, with fighter aircraft operatinh at medium altitude, the majority of targets are found above, unfortunately, phozotron did not show the key building block of the AESA radar, the T/R module
search range against fighter size taerget is 200 km (head on) coimpare to 70km for mechanical antenna, track up to 30 target.weight -285kg.
Unless the Phozotron show more data, some suspect that Zhuk-A may not be a true AESA.
