Continental Air Services in Laos 1963-65

Hi,

Just read some very interesting information yesterday about Continental Air Services Inc (CASI) in South East Asia.

CASI used a number of Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneers in Laos during 1963-65 and operated them in a similar manner to ‘Air America’.

From what I can gather the Twin Pins were c/n’s:

564 First flight 5th June 1959. Philippine Airlines as PI-C431. Thai Aircraft & Engineering in 1960. Bird and Sons in 1963 as XW-PBJ. Continental Air Services in Septemeber 1965. Presumed lost in South East Asia.

565 First Flight 22nd October 1959. Philippine Airlines as PI-C432. Thai Aircraft & Engineering in 1960. Bird and Sons in 1963 as XW-PBN.
Continental Air Services in September 1965. Presumed lost in South East Asia.

566 First flight 10th November 1959. First registered as G-APXL. Leased to Iraq Petroleum in December 1959. Philippine Airlines in June 1960 as PI-C433. Thai Aircraft & Engineering in 1960. Bird and Sons in 1963 as XW-PBO. Damaged beyond repair near Saigon, South Vietnam, on 20th September 1964.

567 First Flight 11th November 1959. Philippine Airlines as PI-C434. Bird and Sons in December 1963 as XW-PBP. Continental Air Services Inc in September 1964. Presumed lost in South East Asia.

If anyone can help with additional information I would be most grateful. Would I be correct to assume that Bird and Sons also operated in and out of Laos in thew same manner as CASI?

Alex
