We’ve come across it several times in conversations and it really is a facinating piece of machinery, but I still have questions about it’s operation and it’s operations. Please indulge me with knowledge:
1. Was the Cabin a straight through thing (pilot can walk out the back), or was there something in the way? Pics of interior would be nice.
2. There seems to be the common Karman control surfaces on the blades, do these actually move or are they fixed?
3. The Tail actually contains a blower, this I know does not move in the same way as those on the MD-900 Explorer Series, but does it have a purpose (I imagine it would). Where does the exhaust come from?
4. Was it ever armed with any offencive weapons (not including the Fire Supression equipment that could also be used to spread Agent Orange).
5. I was reading a website done by a chap who served on these machines in Vietnam and he claims that these helos rescued more downed Pilots than any other machine in the conflict, does anyone have any stats to back this up?
