Maritim patrol aircraft. Performance vs cost?

What is the most cost effective choice for a Maritim Patrol Aircraft? Orion or the proposed Boeing 737 are probably the best solutions, but it will probably be to expencive for many smaller nations. What alternatives are there for a cost effective MP aircraft except refurbished Orions?

I like the look and speed of a jet, but it probably lacks range and low speed performance. I think the Embraer P99 or a Exocet armed falcon50 are very cool, but it probably lacks range and payload to be serious contender?

Endurance, range, payload, sensors and weapons?
