I recently came across this site, which has the usual shallow stats and crappy pics of aircraft we all know far more about. However, one thing which makes this webpage actually worth it is the fact that there are sound files included.
Now i can’t remember the sound of each and every aircraft i’ve ever heard, but from the ones i do know the .wav files on the site are usually pretty reasonable. The MiG-25 and F-104 both put a big grin on my face, the Tornado lacks a bit of the ‘crackle’ those RB199s make (i’m sure some of you will know what i mean), whereas that of the Mi-24 is just plainly wrong: it’s a vague roar rather than the really distinctive growl the Hind has.
Some aircraft i never heard in real life certainly didn’t disappoint me: the XB-70 and B-58 sure sound like i expected them to. I do wonder where they got the MiG 1.42 from (labeled as ‘MiG-35’), so there’s no reason to lower your gullibility screens when browsing for some annoying sounds.
