This was posted on Combat Edge forum, I have not heard anything down here, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not true, and if it is, why this type of plane, Donier went bust therefore parts would be hard to get, wouldn’t they?

Australia to procure 4 Dornier 328 search aircraft

Austrailia plans to introduce four Dornier 328 turboprop aircraft to the coastline patrol mission beginning next year in an effort to speed response timeline in an emergency. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority logs about 400 rescues each year and many of the aging search and rescue planes in use by private contractors are often unavailable for emergencies and lack suffient range and endurance needed. With its extensive coastline Austrailia has responsibility to patrol 10 percent of the earth’s water.
