hello everyone,
I am desperatly looking for the number of su-27 and mig-29 operational with the soviet airforces in the 1989-90 period
my information is according to these sources
http://www.milavia.net/aircraft/su-27/su-27_ops.htm
it gives the following info about the service of su-27 in the soviet AFs please can someone verify if the numbers of aircraft are accurate
“The first batch of 20 Su-27s were handed over from 22 June 1985 to the ADF (PVO) fighter regiment based at Dzemgi AB in the Far East. From 1986 the re-equipment of fighter units was accelerated. By 1990, the European part of the Soviet Union had received 367 Su-27 fighters (138 for the Air Force and 229 for the ADF fighter regiments). 67 of the Soviet Air Force aircraft were stationed in Poland. It was then estimated by Western experts that the total number of Su-27s in existence was 500”
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/av-pvo.htm
and also
http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/russia/agency/av-pvo.htm
My information is that around 500 mig-29 and 300 su-27 were serving in the PVO and VVS by 1990(according to the sites i listed ).Since i dont have the 1989-90 military balance edition i dont know for sure if this information is accurate or not.
best regards
Nathan
