reported:

On 18 February 2005, from 10:05 to 13:25, four JGSDF UH-1J Iroquois helicopters landed seven times in the empty, snow-covered ground of the Nakamura Daiichi Middle School (Nakamura First Middle School), in Souma City, Fukushima Prefecture.
They belonged to the Touhoku Houmen Koukuutai (Northeastern Koukuutai), JGSDF, based at Kasumime Base, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture.
The Koukuutai explained the four choppers, two before noon and two after noon, each with two pilots, were practising take-off and landing in case of disaster relief, outside the base. Though the pilots had aerial photos and maps, aerial photos of the school was mistakenly used and marked in the maps. The Baryou Kouen Nagatomo Ground (Baryou Park Nagatomo Ground) where they were supposed to land was 800 metres southeast of the school.
The school had 435 students. Announcements inside the school advised the students to not exit the school.
After their training sorties ended, the pilots learnt their mistake after the school contacted the prefectural government, and the prefectural government contacted the JGSDF.
