Cost for the Typhoon

http://www.eurofighter.com/News/

In current terms 1 Euro is worth £0.69. Tranch 2 covers 236 aircraft at a cost of 13bn Euros or just shy of £9bn. That works out to be 55mn Euros or £38.1mn per aircraft.

The USA has spent an estimated $40bn on the F22 Raptor and unless the USAF can pull something out of the bag, latest reports say they will be getting 160 aircraft. $1 is currently worth £0.54 so if this remains the case (I doubt it will BTW) then a single Raptor is costing the US taxpayer $250mn, or approx £135mn!

If these figures are correct then I think that the British, German, Spanish and Italian airforces are getting a bargain. Or is my mathematics at fault again?

Phil 🙂
