What do guys think the future of the Space Based radar is gonna be..is it important investment for the future or the money will be better of spent somewhere else..
here is some info on it
Key Features
The Space Based Radar (SBR) will provide day-night, all-weather, 24-7 detection and tracking of moving targets worldwide as well as 3-D radar mapping data.
The system will offer extraordinary utility to war fighters as it is integrated into the Joint War fighter C3I system as well as being provided to the Strategic Planning and Intelligence Communities.
Tasking flexibility will allow preplanned prioritized tasking or tasking directly from theater(s) of Operation.
Critical data will be down linked in real time to the war fighter for support of ongoing combat operations.
The SBR system will give military commanders the ability to simultaneously look deep into denied areas of interest, in multiple theaters, across all levels of conflict on a non-intrusive basis without risk to personnel or resources.
OSD has designated the SBR program as a key Transformational Space program inextricably linked to its Persistent Integrated Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) requirement for the transformational Joint Forces.
OSD and the USAF have prioritized their resources to provide a funding profile for SBR that supports a 2012 Initial Launch in tandem with the initial deployments of transformational elements of the other Services.
