At the end of redeploying VMFA-122 “Crusaders” 10 F/A-18C Hornets from Karup, Denmark to Beaufort USMC station, NC, one aircraft ran off the runway and into some trees. Canadian exchange pilot Capt. Derek Nichols died in hospital some hours later. He was virtually at the end of his three year tour and his family and friends were waiting for him.
Very sad 🙁
I watched the Hornets leave Karup.
