Swedens Prime minister Göran Persson today confirmed on National TV News that Pakistan wish to aquire JAS39 Gripen jets. He spoke after a meeting
with Pakistani President Musharaff in Sweden.
Persson added the tight restrictions of the military export agency applies and any sale must be cleared from them first.
(Pakistan is not the ideal customer
and does not offer anything in return other than money that would be of strategical importance to the Swedish security policy.
Additionally the US would have a big say in the export of amraam missile tech)
So there it is. This could add pressure on USA to ship new F-16 or convice Denmark to sell pakistan used F-16 jets, but Pakistan seem to have lost patience with the US Admin and are looking elsewhere.
