Has Rafale become an abyss for billions?

Soon after France started working on their own design (instead of remaining with eurofighter project), many critics called Rafale an abyss for billions. Of many reasons that french cited for their pull out of typhoon consortium was that Typhoon wont b a good export model.

In 2004, we see that typhoon is not doing that bad after all. Along 4 consortium partners which r to take around 500 units between them (im sure some orders will b cut), various other countries have also expressed interest or have signed the contracts. In contrast, Rafale has not been exported to anyone thus far and that may remain the case for sometime…singapore competition looks interesting

What is the future of Rafale in your opinion?
Was it always an abyss for billions and would it remain so?
