create an airforce scenario #3

since many seemed to like the last one, here’s the next one.
This time it’s a real country.

You are Kyrgyzstan, a landlocked mountainous country that’s slightly bigger than Austria. Ecotourism and being located as a crossroads in Eurasia has brought the income up.. the government has decided to allocate up to 4 billion for aircraft procurement over a 6 year time span

you have two main threats and both lie in the south.

1. Uzbekistan – the stronger military in the region, with small numbers of Su-27, MiG-29 and Su-24 (less than 200 aircraft all together last time I checked). They have a very severe problem of respecting your borders.. often they’ll do their militant and rebel chasing thing into YOUR territory.. and infact in the late 90’s an Su-24 violated your airspace and accidentally bombed a village. They are not against your government in particular..but feel like because they have power, they are free to conduct whatever operation they want into your territory if needed.. they also use some political leverages for your water supply, such as energy threats.

2. Tajikstan – a place near anarchy and lawlessness.. Your country has had several occasions where militant groups stationed in this country, will cross into your border regions causing havoc.. the government of Tajikstan has no power over it.

your goals.

– create an airforce sufficient to intercept Uzbek aircraft
– an air force that is able to conduct operations on militants that often hide in mountainous areas and high elevation areas as well as possibly striking into Tajikstan itself
– good air support for your ground troops will be essential as well as transportation.
– have at least 50% of this force acquired before 2008

your political situation

– The Americans and French have F-16s and Mirage-2000D’s stationed at your biggest airport, Manas. You get along with both of them.

– The Russians have Su-27s stationed at another airport (to compete for influence with the Americans).. since they’re trying to win your favor, you are on good terms with them too.

– The Chinese don’t have anything stationed..but they have donated free military items such as uniforms and rifles. Despite some issues with land boundaries.. you’re generally on good terms with them too
