Question regarding Falklands / Malvinas

Lo All

Just a quick question that I can’t seem to find an answer for:

By all accounts, the Argentinian Air Force was a capable, well-trained organisation in 1982. However, books that I have read re: The Falklands indicate that they flew hardly any sorties aimed at gaining air-superiority.

While I am a big fan of the SHAR, surely if the Args had made an effort, given the limitations of the SHAR and the logistical difficulties of the Brits, they could have greatly reduced the effectiveness of the fleet’s air defence and perhaps changed the result?

My question therefore is this: Does anyone know why they didn’t try to take out the SHARs first?
