Why is the Gripen wingtip launch rail so long? Is it because SAAB is hoping to accomodate future lightweight AAM? Is it an aerdynamic feature? I have noticed that the wingtip launch rail is longer and more robust that that of the F-16, Rafale, and the F-18. Any ideas?
