Hi,
We’ve all heard of the German plan for a Luftwaffe fighter strength of 250 aircraft by 2015: 180 Typhoons and around 70 special Tornado’s (ECR and Recce).
I can see how they can have 70 operational Tornado’s: they can still have plenty in storage and in maintenance.
But what about the Typhoons? If they buy only the 180, they will not have 180 in operational in 2015. Some will be in maintenance, some will have crashed.
Look at the Dutch: I believe they are keeping around 120 F-16’s in order to have a fighter strength of 90 F-16’s.
Best regards, Transall.
