Back in the days of ‘ole the RAF was a force to be reckoned with, now it seems the modern day RAF can’t do anything alone. Whenever the RAF goes to war it is as an aid the the USAF. Why? When AFM made a report on the RAF several issues ago a senior officer made the claim that the RAF isn’t meant to fight its own battles but act more as a specialist force to others, providing support to other forces with Nimrods, E-3s etc.
So is Britain still Great? The Navy has little in the way of force projection capabilities and would run into serious trouble if facing a strong nation such as China, Russia, South Korea, Japan or even Spain.
The Army is quite small and seems to be under equipped when it is sent to war, again it seems the Army is meant to provide support to other nations rather than fight its own wars.
In a world where nothing is certain and Britain may end up in another war miles from home over disputed territory such as Gibraltar (hey, it could happen) can Britain really afford to stay in this condition or is it time to make Britain Great again?
