Uganda getting Mi-24PNs (Mi-35PN?)

Russia to Delivery Mi-24PN Helicopters to Uganda

AO Rostov Helicopter Production Complex Rostvertol will deliver upgraded Mi-24PN combat transport helicopters to Uganda, the company’s general director, Boris Slyusar’, has reported.

He did not specify the cost of the contract and the quantity of aircraft which will be delivered to Uganda, reporting that the contract will be carried out in the first half of 2004.

Slyusar’ noted that this is the first contract signed this year for the delivery of helicopters abroad.

They Will Teach Pilots to Fly on Night Helicopters

Five upgraded Mi-24PN helicopters from Rostov-on-Don will join the Torzhok training center. According to a report of the chief of the Center for Army Aviation Combat Application and Cross Training of Air Crew, General-Major Evgeniy Ignatov, helicopter pilots have to undergo training on the new aircraft which are equipped with special improved navigational equipment that allows carrying on combat actions at night. As “Tverskaya Zhizn’” reports, the upgraded Mi-24PN also have new armament, and they will issue night vision goggles to the pilots with which the cockpit lighting system also has been reequipped.

Looks like the five are joining the first two aircraft that were ‘probably’ (according to Jane’s) delivered to Torzhok in 2002- though it’s possible these aircraft were used for something else.
