Best bang for your money!

Many many countries out there simply cannot afford the newest fighter, and many are looking for replacement of their old Mig-21/23s, F-4s/5s, Mirage III(& other variants)/F1 and many other planes.

Please without political considerations what do you guys think?

I have thought of the most obvious 3, Mig-29, F-16 and the newest FC-1.

How do they compare in A2A, A2G, maintenance, range/payload/speed, COST, lifetime, avionics, and other things.

IMHO I am not sure which one ofthose 3 I would pick, the newest Mig-29SMT seems pretty cheap but the disadvantage is that it is no longer in serial production and cannot be produced brand new, the problem is that the Russians take the ones sitting in hangars and would refurbish them and upgrade them and sell them which were built some 10 years ago. I think the Mig-29SMT is just as advanced as the F-16blk50/52 but I am not sure about other things. I am also leaning up on the F-16 blk50/52 for many other reasons but for cost effective it has to be the FC-1, it seems to be VERY cheap for what it can do, I mean twice as cheaper than a normal F-16blk50/52 I believe as mentioned before. Also Russia and US offer the early refurbished Mig-29A/Bs and F-16A/Bs for a cost around 8/10 million per plane. The Biggest disadvantage with FC-1 is tha its still undeveloped and we dont know much about it but we know enough to put it on par with F-16 and Mig-29 and not something like a F-15 or Su-27.

What do you guys think?

FC-1
Advantages & Disadvantages:
-Still undeveloped
-Almost as twice as cheaper than Mig-29 or F-16(later versions not the earlier versions)
-Probably will be able to be a good all around multirole fighter that will be a medium dogfighter and a medium BVR platform, kind of in between the Mig-29 and F-16.
-Radar use unknown
-Maintenance costs not exactly known but it is intended to be maintained at lower costs.

F-16
Advantages & Disadvantages:
-A proven platform
-A very good BVR platform
-A very good multirole fighter
-lower RCS than Mig-29
-Cant say much about it’s A2G capabilities
-very agile and manuverable

Mig-29
Advantages & Disadvantages:
-can no longer get them brand new because they are no longer in serial production
-best dogfighter probably
-the SMT upgrade is probably more advanced than the other 2(except F-16blk60)
-longer range than the other two(twin engined)

Anyways opinions? I am leaning the most on the FC-1 due to it’s very low cost for its good capabilities.
