Robins AFB, GA

I recently took part in a base visit courtesy of my AFROTC detachment, to Robins AFB in Georgia.

I got to see tons of great things including the maintenance (D-Level) facilities for the F-15, C-130, and C-5.

We also got to see a lot of the local KC-135 unit (99th ARS), and saw the local E-8 J-STARS squadrons actively operating (boy were they busy!).

I’ve got some photos from the trip that I’ll try and get posted soon, but there’s one thing I thought you guys would like to hear about in particular.

Unforunately I don’t have a photo of her, but the Museum of Aviation has an EE Lightning on display. I’d never seen a Lightning up close until this trip, and I must say she’s a big bird up close.

Anyway, the tail number was ZF 593 I believe. Can anyone tell me the history about this particular bird?
