Size comparision: PLAAF menagerie

Here’s a fun little exercise 🙂

When you do enough modelling, perspective and proportion are all important in determining relative size.

You find a constant, in this case – a human head, and you could guage the size of things fairly accurately. Since the human head is round, the your angle of sight (or perspective) of it doesn’t effect your perception of size much.

The following are a J-7B, a J-10, a FC-1, a J-7PG and a Su-27 UBK.

I’ve matched up head head size on each plane. The J-7B on the top is a example on how perspective (this one from the rear) can influence the perception of length.

The J-7PG and the J-10 are both in nearly exact profile perspective and give the best guage of relative length.

The FC-1 has a slight rear aspect and the perspective of the Su-27 is from the front so length are a little harder to guage with those two.

But from what ever aspect they give you an idea of comparative size.

The monster of the lot is of course, the Su-27.
