F-14 shoots up Taliban convoy

Have been reading the Robin Moore book, The Hunt for Bin Laden, basically an account of US special ops in Afghanistan.

It’s a very detailed book. It mentions an incident in which an F-14 saved a squad of SF operators who were trapped when a convoy of Taliban fighters advanced on them. The F-14 was in the area and came in at low level and shot up the entire convoy. The Tomcat had to bug out after using up all its ammo, it apparently did about four runs. But the F-14 managed to save the SF operators bacon with its attack. I we just thought it dropped LGB’s or fired long range aams.

Anyone know of any other stories coming out of Afghanistan or recent Iraq??
