Nimrods?

Hi,

As I was browsing through one of those “UK Air Arms” books from Mach III plus, I noticed 2 odd Nimrods.
XV147 and XV148 do not have a designation like “MR 2” or “R1” or “AEW 3”.
Of XV147 it is said that the fuselage is at Warton and of XV148 that it is stored at Woodford.
What were these? Static test airframes? Were they complete Nimrods with all the ASW gear? Were they ever in RAF service?
