F-35 cannon

The F-35 was supposed to be equipped (or available) with a version of the Mauser BK-27 cannon. However, a few months ago a news announcement was made that the 25mm GAU-12/U was to be used instead.

Can anyone provide definite information (and preferably an official link) about this?
