Here’s the profound thought of the day. Identify the most influential aircraft in history. From what I believe, yes, there is a right answer. I’ll give it and a wordy explnation ( 😀 ) after people give their educated guesses.
Look at it like this: pick the aircraftthat has had the most influence. The Wright Flyer, obviously, is not a good example-it only influenced the next design. Apart from being the first powered aircraft, nothing really transformational was used. An influential aircraft would have some sort of new, profound technology, causing a ripple effect throughout the industry. For example-the B-58. High speed performance out of a bomber meant the next interceptors for the Soviets would need much better performance. See? Influence. So maybe the best way to look at it is which aircraft has influenced the most other aerospace technologies or programs?
Fire away!
