JAS-39 Gripen

So what’s going on with the Gripen program at the moment?

Any new customers aside from South Africa?

What about the C/D program? How’s that coming along?

Seems like the Gripen is often mentioned, but I’ve heard little about the current status of the program.

I’ve always thought it was a rather classy looking airplane (much like most airplanes the Swedes build).

I read that as far as A/G weapons go that laser-guided weapons are on the way. Anyone have any idea as to what types?

Which aircraft are its closest competitors?

There are so many new airplanes, I’m just not sure which ones go in the same category as Gripen.
