In the June edition of Flight Journal there is an article entitled F/A-18 vs F-16. It’s written by a Hornet driver who has some time in a Viper. Though he tries to be fair in the end he draws the conclusion that the Hornet is better than the Viper. I think it was a very biased article, fighter pilots always falll in love with jet they fly and are blind to its flaws. Personally I think the Viper and Hornet not the abomnable Super Hornet are about the same though the Viper does have much more grunt under the hood.
The author also said,”In my opinion the Super Hornet takes more firepower farther and keeps pilots safer than any strike aircraft that the Navy has fielded to date.”
Clearly this man has been smoking something and has never heard of an F-14D.
He also said,”There’s no better performing fighter in the close-in, slowspeed, knife-in-teeth dogfight than the F/A-18 Hornet, except maybe of course, a Super Hornet.”
Clearly he’s lost it.
What do you’ll think?
