Hi Y’all, new to this forum, so please be gentle with me….
AFM (Air Forces Monthly) did an article a few years back about using fast jets against helicopters, specifically Tornado F3’s armed with the usual Skyflash MRAAMS and Sidewinders against Sea Kings. Can’t remember the outcome…..
However instead of using missile armed Tornados, F-16s, etc or indeed other armed helo’s (Apache, Cobra, Mi -28), why not down choppers with a CBU…?
Thus a CBU equipped A10 could fly over an enemy helicopter and rip it to shreds with scores of bomblets dropped from one bomb.
Surely a couple of bomblets striking the whirling blades of a helicopter will ruin its day….?
Not good for the environment or surrounding popullation though…
