variable geometry J-8 ???

There’s a short note on the Febr- 03 issue of AFM page 61 regarding the devellopment of the improved J-8II:

“An operational requirement for the new fighter was issued in September 1980 and a conceptual definition study began in April 1981. This included an evalution of a number of more radical J-8 derivatives, including one aircraft with variable geometry wings, ….”

Does anyone have some more info … esp. drawings, pictures, etc. of this proposal ?? Could it be that this aircraft was the once projected original J-10 VG-fighter from Shenyang ??
