Monthly Cyprus Update

Sorry I’ve been AWOL the last couple of weeks in hospital, and thought I’d drop my usual monthly line while I’m at home.

Not a hell of a lot to report this month, except that a couple of the Hind serials were reported in AFM.

According to the Cyprus Mail (sometime last month), only 5 of the 12 Hinds are yet operational, though I’ve got no way of authenticating that. I can only assume that there is still a time lag in the arrival of air crews.

I’m still waiting to find out if there is going to be an announced replacement for the Bell-206L lost in July, but no ones said anything so I’m probably just gonna stop bothering to check until the new fiscal budget is published in October.

I’m loooking for updated info on two Cypriot aircraft types –

1.Purchase of the 4 Bell-412’s (is this happening or not? I heard the order had been re-instated…)

2.BN-2B Maritime Defender (supposed to have been overhauled in UK and returned at the beginning of 2001)
