Sukhoy Announces Tender for Fighter Construction

The Sukhoy AVPK has announced the first tender within the framework of the creation of the fifth generation fighter. As its press service reported on 18 October, the winner of the tender will become the lead developer of the avionics for the new airplane.
Financing from the budget will be not more than 30 percent of the cost of the work, therefore, the winner of the tender will have to bear the avionics development principally at its own expense.
A draft of the new airplane will be presented before the end of the year, when the final composition of the project’s participants will be determined. The cost of the project for the creation of the airplane according to various estimates is 1.3 – 1.5 billion dollars. The Sukhoy AVPK was declared the chief developer of the fifth generation airplane in April.
The Leninets Holding Company (St. Peterburg), the Tikhomirov Instrument Building Scientific and Research Institute (Zhukovskiy, Moscow Oblast) and the Fazotron-NIIR corporation (Moscow) have submitted applications for participation in the tender.
