GARRY….jet engines melting glass

ok, somebody was complaining about hijacking posts, so this is in reply to your statement about model jet engines not hot enough to melt glass…and my reply is huh? Combustion is combustion, burning kerosene for a small engine is no different than a large engine if catalysts or any other special means are not used. So, yes it’s very hot in the core. But, yes, it’s cooled off rapidly due to much smaller air flow rates and the fact that model jet engines are surrounded by a relatively large bypass duct….if sand gets into the engine, then yes it becomes glass….my original question is that interestingly i found no problems so far on model jets flying on dry lakes, which has plenty of sand.
