Before I go for the week, just thoought I’d post my first proper topic.
The US always seems to be trying to make out North Korea to be a real threat to the South, this is despite the fact that the KPA rarely trains as it spends most of the time harvesting food. The KPA’s equipment is 30 years old and would be facing (even with the ROK alone) state of the art MBT’s, IFV’s, attack helo’s and ground attack aircraft. The North Korean Navy is obsolete and doesn’t stand a chance at sea against the ROK. The KPAAF’s few operational MiG-29A and MiG-23MF fighters would stand no chance against the F-16s (and in several years F-15s) of the ROKAF. The multitude of MiG-21s and MiG-19s would be nothing more than target practice for Southern pilots and the SAMs in KPA hands would inflict little in the way of losses.
So why does the US need to be in South Korea?
When facing an army, air force and navy which has no food, no fuel, little training, no combat experience, no will to fight and no chance of victory…surely the South can stand on its own two legs, right?
Looking forward to your reponses, LC
