The Singapore army recently unveiled the Advanced Combat Man System(ACMS)which is jointly developed by the Singapore Armed Forces and Defence Sciences Technology Agency. The Singapore soldier will be equipped with a helmet-mounted display which displays maps, messages from other soldiers and other infomation. He will also have an image- intensifying night vission goggles as well as microphones, hand-held computer and a camera which uses Bluetooth tchnology.
The soldier has a drinking tube and a body armour. The soldier’s rifle, the SAR-21 will be fitted with a Indentifcation Friend-or-Foe system which can find out if the person targeted is a comrade or enemy through a laser. The rifle also has a Thermal-Imaging Night-Vission Sight and an Integrated Hand-Guard which can toggle between the camera, compass and a laser range finder.
This new system will put quality into Singapore’s soldiers. None of its neghbours have developed or purchaser sush a system
