New Delhi, Sept. 6. (PTI): The first of the much delayed three state-of-the-art Russian Krivack class frigates is all set to be inducted into the Navy later this month even as negotiations have reached final stages for acquiring the Admiral Groshkov aircraft carrier and building French Scorpene submarines here.
Attributing the nearly six-year delay in the acqusition of these ultra speed frigates, with global capability, to test trials of its new surface to air Stil missile, the Naval Chief Admiral Madhvendera Singh said the first warship would join the Navy by the end of this month.
“The delay does not bother the Navy,” Singh said at the flag-off ceremony of the Naval expedition to virgin Suitulla peak in Kumaon Himalayas asserting that the Navy wanted its most modern warships to be equipped with Stil missiles.
