EADS and Boeing cooperation on missile defence

FARNBOROUGH – The European Aeronautic Defence and Space CO NV (EADS)
and Boeing Co will this afternoon announce plans to cooperate on missile defence programmes, well informed industry sources told AFX News.
UK defence giant BAE Systems PLC is also likely to announce that it is
planning to join the missile partnership later on this week, the sources added.
The move comes after EADS said it plans to increase its focus on defence and gain a significant role on the lucrative US defence market by forming partnerships and joint ventures.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, the planned partnership between the European and US companies hinges largely on support by European governments.
The partnership plans, which are to be unveiled today and later on this week, do not entail any major financial committments, the industry sources said.
