I have just returned from Fairford where the day was fraught with problems. Having arrived at 6.40am we then spent until 9.10 before we actually walked onto the airfield, security gone mad, however the biggest problem initially was because someone had lost the keys to gate(red zone), yes lost the keys !!.Then it was case of snaking through, unloading your metal bits into a polly bag, until passing through the X-ray machine, 2hours 10 minutes , i ask you !!. Of course other gates had opened earlier meaning that most of the best flightline was ocupied by tented villages and sleeping sunbathers (why do people spend £30.00 to sleep on the grass all day ??).We eventually found a free space and took it only to shouted at by some folks sat 5 yards back about spoiling their view, eh ?.
All setled down, until the Italian G222 lost its nose wheel on landing and promtly blocked the runway for 3hours ( all crew escaped quickly and safely after a minor fire).Obviously the program was badly disrupted (clearly outside the organisers control) resulting in a number of items not displaying. Coupled with the fact that one minute i was in shorts the next in two coats, jeans and still shivering. see attached photos for weather variability.
