J-10 prototype No. 1006,

Ever since I royally screwed up a month-long tackling of a massive USS Constitution model from Revell as a teenager, I’ve stayed away from the plastic kits.

But I still LOVE models. Instead of getting high on airplane glue, I create models on my computer while doing work and recreational research.

Here’s a model of the J-10 prototype 1006 which I built over the course of last week. Mainly to keep my mind off of the plummeting stock market.

The 1006 was the subject of one of the first clear and (non-PSed) J-10 picts on the web. It’s the one which eventually graces both Jane’s and AFM.

I gave the model an interceptor role loadout with two drop tanks, a pair of red dummy pl-8s and a pair of pl-11 mraams. A recently posted picture had prototypes 1003 and 1009 sporting a similar configuration.
