USN focuses again on directed-energy weapons

As part of its drive to explore potential ‘transformational’
technologies, the
US Navy (USN) is rekindling efforts to develop and field
directed-energy weapons
(DEW) at sea – including the possible deployment of high-energy laser
(HEL)
weapons aboard submarines.
