French aircraft engine manufacturer Snecma said it will launch an Indian subsidiary and a design and research center in the southern aviation hub of Bangalore.
The state-owned firm said it will invest an initial 200 mln rupees in Snecma Aerospace India Pvt Ltd to develop engine components, aircraft equipment and onboard software — the first such center in the Asia-Pacific region.
“Snecma Aerospace India will initially carry out the design studies on
behalf of Snecma companies,” said chairman Jean Paul Bechat.
Snecma Aerospace India will initially export all its products and employ 60 engineers. The company plans to raise its employee strength to 140 within two years.
Olivier Laederich, managing director of the Indian arm said Snecma Aerospace India will help Hindustan Aeronautics Limited make engines under licence for its Advanced Light Helicopter.
