I have found some info and pics about the swiss pylon. It is much smaller and so produces less drag.
During the testing, three configurations were flown. The mission was a high altitude (49000ft) intercept at Mach 1.4 from the base.
Clean Hornet: 4.2 min
USN Hornet: 7.5 min
Swiss Hornet: 5.5 min
The planes were armed with 4 AMRAAMS and 2 Sidewinders. Thats a quite impressive improvement isn’t it?
