Airline shot down.

Over the past 50 years a number of airlines where shot down -accidental or not- by military force.

I know of at least tree incidents:

1. the Soviet Union shot down a Korean Airlines Boeing 747 in the late 1970’s. It was flying from Alaska to Seoul and was brought down somewhere over Siberia. If memory serves me right, the airliner was of course due to human error, some false input. I think the auto pilot was oof by 1 degree or something like that. It wondered off over some highly sensitive site.

2. Somewhere in the mid 1980’s the US navy shot down an Iranian Airline -Airbus A310 or 300- because they thought it was a MiG-29 on a bombing run towards them. They identified it because of it’s engines which turned out to be an obviously false reading.

3. Last year a Russian jet -Tu 154 ???- was downed over the Black sea do to a Ukrainian missile test, which ended up missing it’s initial target and headed own towards the passenger airliner which caught up with it.

Does anyone know more of this kind of incidents?

best regards,

JW
