Soon one of the worlds greatest ever fighter/bomber jets will be shelved. As we all know the F-14 is to be replaced by the F-18E/F, my point is that this issue has received little coverage for such a major event. I have tried my best to follow the latest news and here is all I know –
VF-41 ‘Black Aces’ have now converted to F-18E
VF-102 ‘Diamond Backs’ are aparantly serving on their last deployment before converting to the F-18E.
VF-14 which serves in the same wing as VF-41 has also been withdrawn from service.
VF-41 will be assigned to the USS Nimitz
VF-122 will be assigned to the Ab Lincoln.
O.K, so the above is abit messy, I’m tired and bad at spelling. But the long and short of my point/question is this.
What is going to happen to all the old F-14’s ?. Will they be sold, scraped or transfered to other squadrons ?.
Will F-18C/D operate along side the F-18E/F ?
Does anyone update info on this subject ?
Thanks all
