Afgan conflict

Anyone got anyideas why the caves in Afghanistan are being so fiercly attacked by American and Afghan ground troops when all the other large cave networks during this conflict had been wiped out from massive bombing raids,is it due to a lack of munitions (surly not) or could there be someone in those caves who needs to be captured (osama perhaps).Any thoughts on this subject welcome.thanks.
