Guys and Gals
Shocking news in this weeks Flight International.
The RN is to retire the FA2 Sea Harrier in 2004!!!
This is so that the Joint Force Harrier command can operate a single type called the “GR9” , essentially upgraded GR7’s that will perform the air defence role for the fleet as well ad offensive ops!
This is being done so that the RN/RAF JFH will be used to operating a single type when the JSF comes along.
Same issue has a nice pic of a two-seat LCA (Looks very much like a Mirage2000D/N) and says that HAL is looking at procuring more F404 engines as the Kaveri is “Not meeting requirments” according to HAL Chairman NR Mohanty.
