[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-02-02 AT 07:51 PM (GMT)]Now, I don’t know about you but to me Iran appears to be a peace loving, democratic nation. Recently they have commenced a drive to modernise their waning military and have signed contracts with Russian manufacturers for various high-tech weapons but this all appears reasonably normal and is in keeping with armed forces in the middle-east (excepting Iraq).
“Come on Ivan, get to the point” I hear you cry.
Well, I just listened to Secretary John Bolton (?) a member of the Bush administration claiming that Iran was a couldron of evil poised to spill onto the democratic, peaceful nations of the region. He said that Iran was undemocratic (news to me), that they treat women badly (as in differently to western nations but no different – better in fact – than Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey etc), that they support terrorists (even though they were opposed to the Taliban long before Bush was) and that they are are arming in order to distabilise the middle east (this is pure bs!).
What has the US got against Iran? What are they planning to do? How? When? And why?
