Can anyone identify this?

Early favourite is Mi-8 Hip, I think Mi-24 Hind A. But others are thinking something else…

I think you may be right Peter. It may be a Grumman 150 SE2 used in the TBF-3.They carried one 50 cal on the left with the right hand side for other equipment, maybe that thick steel tube is for holding the 2″ armoured glass sight screen.

Would that have been the pile of scrap that sat outside the TFC hanger for a while in the 90’s? I use the term scrap as it was pretty much `scrap` i.e. busted and twisted, corroded metal.

Nice to see it coming back from the dead. It looked gutted beyond hope at Duxford in 1994.

It’s not any of the above it was a AN-26 of Pskovavia, it came in from Ostend then went to Stavanger on a freight flight.

one thing i am wondering though, the landing gear is it in the fuselage (ATR style) or by the engines (F50 style). It might also be an An32.

It looks like it might be, but I have just had a look on A.net and theres nothing that looked like the colours that was on it, it had a blue circle on it’s tail on blue lines along the side of it
