LAST EDITED ON 18-06-01 AT 06:00 AM (GMT)[p]Can anybody tell me of airforces which regularly use perform highway operations ie taking off from roads etc. (what’s the proper term for this?).
These are the ones I know of:
Flygapen (Swedish Air Force)
Finnish Air Force (using Hornets, nice to have that beefy undercarriage)
Polish Air Force
Several other Eastern European airforces…
Swiss Air Force?
Royal Air Force (taking off vertically, even better!!!)
What are the advantages/disadvantages of these types of operations, and what do they normally involve? Pics would be great, so post any if you’ve got any :)!
