Is it even worth it?

Chile is negotiating the purhase of between 10-12 F-16 Block 50+ fighters from the U.S. They are currently haggling about price, and the AMRAAM iclusion. My question is, why spend hundreds of millions of dollars for such a small number of aircraft? Though the Block 50+ F-16 is a great aircraft, and very advanced, the very small numbers with which they would enter service would mean that they couldn’t have that great an impact in a long campaign. Is it worth it? Would they have been better off upgrading their existing fleet with that $700 million? Should they have gone towards Russia for some aircraft, considering that they may have been able to pick up some more kit for that money?

It is my opinion that this $700 million is being wasted by Chile.
